About Us:
Saras Micro Devices’ vision is to be a leading component and power delivery network solutions provider for semiconductor devices. To achieve this vision, Saras needs a talented, experienced senior-level capacitor engineer familiar with component manufacturing processes and materials, preferably focused on processes and materials used in the manufacturing of solid polymer foil capacitors. The role is a full-time, on-site position, and the candidate will be a critical member of our R&D team. The candidate will work on the development and characterization of passive component processes and materials.
Position Overview: The nature of this internship program is to support Saras Micro Devices with the execution of their product roadmap gate goals. Specifically, this internship will involve working with R&D Process Engineering to develop/improve current processes with a focus on scaling to low-volume manufacturing.
Intern Opportunity 1: (WIP Intern)
Responsibilities:
- Weeks 1-2 : Onboarding & Planning
- Safety & Process Familiarization
- Understand lab safety protocols and standard operating procedures.
- Map out current process flows and data collection methods.
- Database & WIP System Review
- Assess the existing database and identify tracking challenges.
- Document current data flows and gaps.
- Project Planning
- Align with stakeholders on priorities and key outcomes.
- Define key success metrics for database and dashboard improvements.
- Finalize project roadmap and deliverables.
- Weeks 3-4 : Database Development & Initial Automation
- Schema & Data Flow Improvements
- Propose enhancements to the database schema and data flow.
- Validate proposed changes with engineers and process owners.
- Finalize implementation plan for database updates.
- Automation Implementation
- Develop scripts for automated data entry and validation.
- Pilot test initial automation with a small dataset.
- WIP Tracking Enhancements
- Define key WIP metrics for tracking.
- Begin development of a digital WIP tracking solution.
- Weeks 5-6 : Dashboard Development & Beta Testing
- Dashboard Creation
- Develop an interactive dashboard integrating WIP tracking and process control charts.
- Ensure real-time accessibility for engineers and process teams.
- Data Integration & Testing
- Connect dashboard to automated data collection sources.
- Conduct beta testing with users and gather feedback.
- Refinement & Issue Resolution
- Adjust features based on feedback and performance results.
- Improve scalability and usability.
- Weeks 7-8: Finalization & Deployment
- System Implementation & Training
- Deploy final dashboard and database enhancements.
- Conduct training sessions for engineers and process teams.
- Stretch Goal: Power BI Dashboard
- Explore feasibility of Power BI for visualizing KPOs and control charts.
- Develop a proof-of-concept (if time permits).
- Final Review & Handoff
- Document system architecture and maintenance guidelines.
- Present findings and deliverables to key stakeholders.
Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in Bachelor (Junior/Senior Year)
- Program Area of Study: Computer Science, Database Engineering
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
Objectives:
- Develop and enhance WIP and database systems to integrate processing and electrical data for better tracking and analysis
- Implement database schema improvements with an emphasis on automation and seamless data flow
- Collaborate with engineers and process owners to understand challenges, refine data collection methods, and enhance database usability
- Design and deploy a dashboard that includes WIP tracking, control charts, and other process control parameters for real-time visibility
- Automate data collection for key processes and tools, integrating them into the existing database infrastructure
- Explore Power BI (or a similar platform) as a stretch goal for visualizing KPOs and control charts in a scalable and user-friendly format
Intern Opportunity 2: (eVR Intern)
Introduction
- The nature of this internship program is to support Saras Micro Devices with the execution of their product roadmap gate goals. Specifically, this internship will involve working on the preliminary eVR product where the list of Tier 3 goals are listed below:
- eVR TV Design definition
- Patent application of eVR concept
- Completion of Inductor Builds for eVR TV Tech Validation Samples
- Define & Build Char. Model for eVR
Responsibilities:
- Description of the intern's role and responsibilities
- To support the embedding process of discrete inductors in a substrate.
- To support with the electrical characterization of inductors.
- To support IP development towards inductor implementations.
- Description of the supervisor's role and responsibilities
- To provide an Ansys/Electrical model with inductor topologies when embedded and surrounded by conducting planes by September 2025
- Ensure engagement of intern in IP development
- To provide eVR demonstrated concept layout and preliminary down selection of product architecture (in line with Business Development Group deliverables/requirements).
- Communication channels and frequency of check-ins
- Weekly 1 on 1 meetings with mentor and supervisor.
Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in Bachelor's Degree Program
- Program Area of Study: Electrical or Materials Science
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
Objectives:
- The intern will support on the following tasks:
- Process development of embedded inductors.
- Electrical characterization of embedded inductors.
- Design and development of inductors with multiple magnetic materials.
- Measurable outcomes for each objective:
- Preliminary process flow and tool identification required for inductor’s process flow.
- Completing a full set up for electrical characterization:
- Inductance vs Frequency, Q factor/Loss Tangent,
- Permeability
- Irms / Isat
