Position Summary

The Assistant Chief Operating Officer (ACOO) will play a key leadership role in supporting the Chief Operating Officer with day-to-day operations, strategic implementation, and cross-functional coordination across Recovery Connections programs and services. The ACOO ensures operational excellence, program integrity, and mission alignment, contributing to the growth, impact, and sustainability of the organization.

This position is ideal for a collaborative, detail-oriented, and mission-aligned professional with experience in nonprofit leadership, program operations, and systems management in a recovery-focused or behavioral health setting.

Key Responsibilities

Organizational Leadership & Strategy

  • Collaborate with the COO to implement and evaluate strategic and operational plans across departments.
  • Serve as a key advisor to the COO, providing insight into program performance, community needs, and operational efficiencies.
  • Lead cross-departmental projects and initiatives that align with Recovery Connections strategic goals.

Program Oversight

  • Ensure high-quality implementation and management of Recovery Connections recovery support programs, including peer services, outreach initiatives, and educational workshops.
  • Monitor program metrics, compliance, and reporting to maintain excellence and fidelity to evidence-based practices.
  • Support program managers and staff through regular supervision, coaching, and performance evaluation.

Operational Management

  • Assist with organizational infrastructure including systems development, facilities management, and IT operations.
  • Collaborate on budget development, monitoring, and resource allocation in partnership with the COO and finance team.
  • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations, as well as funding requirements.

Human Resources & Staff Development

  • Support recruitment, onboarding, and professional development of staff and peer specialists.
  • Promote a culture of inclusivity, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Help maintain internal communication systems that foster transparency and team cohesion.

Community Engagement & Partnerships

  • Represent Recovery Connections at community meetings, stakeholder events, and partner coalitions.
  • Support relationship building with funders, partners, and service providers.
  • Identify and develop new opportunities for collaboration, programming, or funding.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of leadership or senior management experience in a nonprofit, behavioral health, or recovery-based setting.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of recovery principles, peer services, and trauma-informed care.
  • Proven ability to lead diverse teams, manage projects, and implement systems that support operational growth.
  • Strong interpersonal, analytical, and written communication skills.
  • Commitment to Recovery Connections mission and values, including lived or professional experience with recovery communities (preferred).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with Florida’s recovery-oriented systems of care (ROSC).
