TRC is Looking for a Passionate Environmental Engineer in the EV Battery Manufacturing Industry! Position is fully onsite in Northern Mississippi. Cutting edge firm seeks experienced greenfield Environmental Engineer with at least seven years' experience.

As part of this dynamic and rapidly expanding industry, you’ll be contributing to a high-profile project, groundbreaking joint venture by several leading truck manufacturers. This venture is building a 2 million-square-foot, energy-efficient battery cell factory in Mississippi to produce lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP) battery cells for electric trucks, with plans to begin production in 2027. This facility will have an annual capacity of 21 gigawatt hours (GWh), positioning you to be part of a transformative project in the green energy revolution!
Key Responsibilities:
Environmental Compliance and Certification:
Lead the Charge in Environmental Compliance: Take charge of securing environmental operating permits and implementing the Environmental Operating System to achieve ISO 14001 certification for battery cell storage manufacturing systems, including production processes.
Provide Expert Oversight: Apply your expertise in environmental regulations as you oversee site construction, manufacturing engineering launch, and ongoing production operations. Your focus will be on maintaining the highest standards of environmental protection with LiFePO4 production.
ISO 14001 Leadership: Be a driving force in the development and implementation of the ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management System certification, ensuring that environmental best practices are at the forefront of operations.
Sustainability and Impact Analysis:
Strategic Planning and Sustainability: Work closely with plant leadership and cross-functional teams to develop sustainability programs that align with environmental goals, reducing water usage, waste production, and material consumption.
Quantify Environmental Impact: Use your scientific knowledge and data analysis skills to assess and measure the potential impact of operations on the environment, ensuring continuous improvements.
Collaborative Action: Build strong relationships with employees, leadership, and local communities to foster collaborative efforts toward achieving site sustainability goals and minimizing environmental footprint.
Regulatory Compliance and Stakeholder Engagement:
Stay Ahead of Regulations: Keep up-to-date with federal, state, local, and corporate environmental regulations to assess projects and processes for compliance.
Stakeholder Interaction: Represent the company in environmental matters with regulatory bodies, trade groups, NGOs, and OEMs. Your transparent communication will help establish trust with key stakeholders, ensuring collaborative partnerships for environmental success.
Education and Experience:
Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related sciences is preferred.
Experience: 5+ years of direct environmental experience, including expertise in SWPPP, SPCC
Previous experience in inspecting manufacturing processes for environmental compliance is a plus.
Skills and Abilities:
Permitting Expertise: Proficiency in Air Permitting, Storm Water Permitting, Wastewater Permitting, and Large Quantity Hazardous Waste Generator Requirements.
Technical Reporting: Strong skills in creating technical reports and delivering presentations on environmental projects and compliance.
ISO 14001 Leadership: Previous experience leading and managing ISO 14001-2015 certification efforts, with internal auditor training or auditor certification.
