As a Bike Technician , you will be integral to ensuring our bikes are performing at their best while maintaining excellent customer satisfaction. In this hands-on role, you’ll be responsible for bike assembly, repair, and maintenance, with a specific focus on tuning mechanical systems and working on electric bike technologies.
You’ll also work closely with our Customer Service team to assist customers through technical troubleshooting via phone, video calls, and email. Your expertise will directly contribute to the overall success of our products and the quality of the customer experience.
Essential Functions for this Role:
eBike & Bike Maintenance : Perform a variety of technical repairs on eBikes, including but not limited to:
Tuning derailleurs and adjusting shifting systems for optimal performance
Adjusting and maintaining disc brakes to ensure safety and functionality
Replacing inner tubes and installing tire sealant to prevent flats
Installing and aligning headsets for proper steering performance
Customer Support : Communicate technical information effectively with customers, providing expert guidance through troubleshooting processes via phone, video calls, or email. Assist with diagnosing and solving problems remotely, ensuring customers feel supported and confident in their eBike.
Bike Assembly & Troubleshooting : Perform bike builds and disassemblies, ensuring every component is installed correctly. Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues in mechanical and electrical systems, from simple fixes to more complex issues.
Logistics & Inventory : Assist with unloading shipments, organizing incoming parts and bikes, and maintaining a clean and efficient work environment. Assist with inventory management, tracking repairs, and maintaining accurate records of parts used and services performed.
Quality Control : Conduct thorough checks of each bike after repair or maintenance to ensure all systems are functioning correctly and that the bike meets safety standards before being returned to the customer.
Other Duties : Take on additional responsibilities as needed, including assisting in bike assembly for new orders or supporting team members with other technical tasks.
Physical Demands :
Must be able to stand for extended periods (up to 8 hours per day)
Ability to lift up to 65 pounds on occasion, particularly when handling bikes and bike parts
Comfortable working in a physically demanding environment
Ideal Qualifications Include:
Education & Experience :
High school diploma or equivalent required
Previous experience working in a bike shop required and/or a mechanical environment preferred
A background in electric bikes (eBikes) is a plus, but not required
Technical Skills & Abilities :
Strong mechanical aptitude with a keen eye for detail
Experience tuning derailleurs, adjusting disc brakes, replacing tubes, and installing headsets
Capable of describing complex bike components and processes to customers in a simple, clear manner
Track record of troubleshooting success in a mechanical setting, especially with bicycles or eBikes
Comfortable with a variety of mechanical tools and bike repair equipment
Proficient in computer skills with the ability to learn and use new software systems
Soft Skills :
Excellent communication skills, including active listening, with the ability to explain technical details to non-technical customers
Friendly, customer-focused attitude with a passion for working with eBike consumers
Service-oriented with a commitment to delivering high-quality support and solutions
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, often under time pressure
Compensation:
Base Hourly rate - $21 to $26 (depending on experience)
An annual bonus percentage that varies based on level of experience.
