Position Description

The incumbent plays a vital role in coordinating and overseeing security projects impacting the Capitol Campus environment. The incumbent is responsible for collaboration and communication with key stakeholders and various Capitol Campus partners, and monitoring and oversight of projects, ensuring they are completed on time and are deconflicted from House Sergeant at Arms equities.

Duties:

  • Serves as a primary project liaison between the Architect of the Capitol (AOC), United States Capitol Police (USCP), Senate Sergeant at Arms (SAA), and other Capitol campus partners. Builds positive working relationships with Capitol campus project managers and organizational staff from these entities.
  • Acts as an advocate on behalf of Member offices to ensure deconfliction of Capitol campus projects and Member, staff, and office operations.
  • Assists in defining project scopes, boundaries, and timelines.
  • Supports and develops internal project schedules, tracking milestones, and identifying deconfliction priorities.
  • Assists in the preparation of project status reports, highlighting progress, challenges, and potential roadblocks.
  • Maintains accurate project documentation, including meeting minutes, project work plans, reports, and data entry. Ensures all project documentation and associated data are properly archived in the Campus Security repository structure.
  • Assists in developing after-action reviews and participates in post-project reviews internally and with campus partners to identify lessons learned for future projects.
  • Applies a basic understanding of common security threats, vulnerabilities, and controls.
  • Utilizes project management technology such as Microsoft Project, ClickUp, Asana, MS Teams, and Outlook to effectively assist the Campus Security team.
  • Supports the Deputy Assistant Sergeant at Arms, Campus Security, and the Program Manager, Campus Security Operations, to further the goals of the SAA Office. Provides updates to Sergeant at Arms leadership as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Salary: $83,437 - $87,651

Work Experience and Education:

A degree in a relevant field (e.g. criminal justice, public administration, engineering, or political science) or equivalent work experience preferred.

Desired project management experience in law enforcement, security, or a related field, to include roles in policing, security management, emergency response, or intelligence analysis preferred. Prior experience working with or within the legislative branch or government and familiarity with the Capitol Hill complex and its security protocols preferred.

Must be able to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI security clearance.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Must possess strong communication skills, both written and verbal. The position requires preparing time-sensitive reports and communicating with various stakeholders.
  • Must have the ability to gather, analyze, and disseminate information effectively. This includes monitoring police activity, tracking incidents, and reporting information to senior staff.
  • Must have experience coordinating activities between different organizations or teams. The role involves liaison with the USCP and other entities.
  • Must have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously. The position involves dealing with time-sensitive and event-driven situations.
  • Must possess knowledge of or have the ability to quickly learn relevant USCP Command Center Policies, House Rules, Committee rules, and House Sergeant at Arms policies.
  • Knowledge of incident reporting and management systems preferred.
  • The ability to deliver briefings to senior-level staff preferred.
