ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Operate assigned school bus/vehicle in accordance with federal, state, municipal and district regulations, policies, and laws.
Follow route directions, coordinate and maintain accurate descriptions of stop locations and times with Departmental Schedulers.
Regulate heating, lighting, and ventilating systems for passenger comfort.
Maintain student conduct that insures the safety of all students.
Issue written discipline reports as needed.
Perform pre and post route safety inspections on assigned vehicle.
Report all delays, accidents/incidents immediately to transportation management or appropriate authorities.
Monitor passengers for medical or behavioral problems.
Administer first aid and provide written reports as required.
Aid in loading and unloading passengers via the stairs or lift mechanisms including securing wheelchairs, mobility aids, oxygen bottles, band and athletic equipment, or luggage as required by route assignment and need. Ensure restraints such as safety vests, seat belts, Child Safety Restraint Systems (CDRS), or other restraining devices are properly secured.
Collaborate with supervisor or designee to accommodate requested route changes, concerns, or special requests.
Train passengers on proper emergency procedures in the event of an emergency.
Establish student, staff and parental rapport that allows for a proactive response to potential problems.
Actively participate in meetings, in-service, and other required training.
Apply and implement knowledge, skills and new understands to support Operations, Maintenance and Transportation.
May perform vehicle maintenance.
Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
