This is a high-impact leadership role for someone who thrives at the intersection of advanced analytics, emerging technology, and enterprise strategy. This role has offices in NY, MA, NJ and PA.

About the Role

The Lead Data Scientist will set the vision and direction for the DSL, driving the development and deployment of AI/ML solutions that enhance underwriting, claims processing, customer experience, and risk management. • Identify and evaluate emerging AI/ML technologies, including deep learning, LLMs, and generative AI.
  • Design and implement AI solutions using unstructured data sources such as contracts, medical records, and customer interactions.
  • Establish best practices for responsible AI development, model governance, and lifecycle management.
  • Collaborate with business, product, and engineering teams to deliver high-impact, production-ready solutions.
  • Represent the data science function in executive meetings, vendor discussions, and industry forums.

Qualifications

  • Advanced degree (PhD/MS/BS) in Computer Science, Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or a related field with 6-10+ years of experience.
  • Deep expertise in machine learning, NLP, and deep learning frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow).
  • Experience with LLMs, generative AI, and GPU-accelerated computing.
  • Proven track record of leading data science teams and delivering enterprise-scale AI solutions.
  • Strong programming skills in Python and familiarity with distributed computing environments.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

This is a unique opportunity to lead a forward-thinking data science team and shape the future of AI innovation in a mission-driven organization.
