Job Description

We are a service-disabled, veteran-owned small business dedicated to delivering transformative technology solutions to our government clients. Our expertise spans cybersecurity, cloud modernization, software development, data analytics, enterprise architecture, IT, and artificial intelligence.
Team (Project) Introduction

We are working on a key project focused on enhancing defensive security through Heuristic Behavior Analytics (HBA). This initiative involves providing a robust tool and sensor baseline to continually analyze behaviors, identify anomalies, and establish normal baselines for behavior and traffic patterns.

Our goal is to ensure comprehensive visibility into data and traffic across the network. To achieve this, we need a skilled leader familiar with our client's data, processes, policies, and infrastructure to oversee a phased, integrated approach to deploying, tuning, and managing the HBA solution.
Position: Database Architect

Role Overview:

We are seeking a Database Architect to support the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) on the HBA implementation project. In this high-profile role, you will be the primary point of contact, managing the day-to-day deployment, operations, and maintenance of the HBA technical baseline. You will ensure the technical scope is delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Professional Level:

This position is at the Engineer 2 level. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in systems architecture, cybersecurity, and risk management, with a passion for designing and implementing robust security measures. You will be responsible for designing, implementing, testing, and maintaining the security and integrity of digital solutions according to Federal standards.

Responsibilities:

Design and implement scalable and secure database solutions based on organizational requirements.
Evaluate and recommend database technologies and tools to meet business goals.
Develop and maintain data models to represent the organization's information architecture.
Ensure data integrity, consistency, and normalization across databases.
Monitor and optimize database performance for responsiveness and efficiency.
Identify and address bottlenecks, and opportunities for database tuning and optimization.
Implement and enforce data security policies to protect sensitive information.
Ensure compliance with industry regulations and standards related to data management.
Collaborate with software developers, system administrators, and other stakeholders to integrate database systems with applications.
Provide technical guidance and support to the development team on database-related issues.
Develop and maintain backup and recovery strategies to prevent data loss.
Develop, implement, and test disaster recovery procedures for databases.
Offer recommendations for improvements and alternative solutions to enhance the stability, reliability, and availability of the HBA.
Collaborate with the team to generate technical documentation, including development planning, technical architecture, and deployment processes.
Participate in Change Management and Release Management Plans, and make necessary technical adjustments as part of change management processes.

Requirements:

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related scientific/technical discipline. Eight years of additional relevant experience may substitute for the degree.
At least 5 years of experience in architecting enterprise-wide database solutions.
Prior experience with federal data warehouses and an understanding of government procedures and regulations is preferred.
Authorized to work for any employer in the U.S.
Ability to obtain and maintain the required security clearance.

Salary Range:

The salary for this position ranges from $77,096.24 to $117,000. This range serves as a guideline and may vary based on job responsibilities, education, experience, skills, and other factors.

Clearance and Background Investigation:

Applicants will be subject to a security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.

Location:

This position is remote, with the possibility of adjusting the work location based on mission requirements.

Benefits:

Eligible employees will have access to a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, 401(k), paid time off, telehealth services, and more.
