Director Donor Relations & Events Location Houston, TX (Second Ward area) :

As a member of the Development Team, you will join an incredibly talented and hardworking Marketing and Communications department dedicated to creating content to advance BakerRipley's impact in the Houston region and attract new target audiences to the Agency.

The Director, Donor Relations and Events leads the creation and distribution of donor communications for appeals, stewardship and cultivation across donor segments that contribute to increased donor engagement, retention and donations. The director leads market level fundraising initiatives that meet predetermined department metrics and objectives. The director leads the design and implementation of special events to meet or exceed annual fundraising goals.

This person must be adept at managing multiple ongoing projects/events simultaneously. Additionally, the director would have superb written and verbal communication skills to represent the Agency and its values in public-facing opportunities with donors, community members, and partners. This position requires willingness to work some nights and weekends.

Expected Outcomes

  • Collaborate with Marketing and Development Staff to promote a compelling brand platform to potential donors through marketing and messaging materials
  • Responsible for the creation and management of annual development events and communications.
  • In consultation with the Senior Directors of Development and Marketing, identify, cultivate, build and solidify relationships with new and established contributors.

Essential Functions

  • Analyze historic patterns of giving and assist in developing strategies to encourage new gifts and increase contributions.
  • Oversee and manage all aspects of development volunteer committee operations.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing team to create a robust marketing and communications plan consistent with annual and strategic goals while supervising the production and execution of all marketing and promotion for fundraising initiatives.
  • Collaborate with the Manager of Operations and Stewardship to ensure timely and meaningful recognition of philanthropy.
  • Collaborate with staff and stakeholders to promote a compelling brand platform to potential donors through marketing and messaging materials.
  • Ensure all donor/prospect activities and communications are recorded in the CRM database in accordance with department policies and procedures.
  • Serve as an effective and enthusiastic Agency spokesperson and representative.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Senior Director of Marketing & Communications.

Experience

Required
  • 4 - 6 years: 4 - 6 years subject matter experience required, 6-8 years preferred. Preferred 6-8 years of experience within a marketing, foundation or events work environment.

Education

Required
  • Bachelors or better in Communication or related field
  • Bachelors or better in Public Relations or related field
