Job Title: Director of PreConstruction – Renewables / Heavy Civil Construction

Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Director of PreConstruction to lead our preconstruction efforts across a diverse portfolio of renewable energy and heavy civil infrastructure projects. This leadership role is pivotal in driving the success of our bidding and estimating processes, vendor negotiations, and overall preconstruction strategy. The ideal candidate brings deep experience in renewables or heavy civil construction, with proficiency in HeavyBid software considered a strong plus.

Key Responsibilities:

Preconstruction Leadership

• Lead all preconstruction activities from project pursuit through handoff to operations.
• Oversee and mentor estimating teams to ensure accurate and competitive proposals.
• Collaborate with executive leadership to develop preconstruction strategies aligned with company growth goals.

Estimating & Cost Management

• Direct the preparation of detailed cost estimates for civil construction projects, focusing on earthwork, utilities, drainage, and renewable energy infrastructure.
• Leverage experience and data to evaluate project risks, contingencies, and cost-saving opportunities.
• Ensure estimates incorporate up-to-date market trends, labor rates, material pricing, and industry benchmarks.
• Proficiency in HeavyBid software is highly desirable.

Bid Strategy & Proposal Development

• Develop winning bid strategies in partnership with business development and operations teams.
• Oversee the preparation of professional, timely, and compelling bid packages and proposals.
• Ensure alignment between proposal narratives, estimates, and project execution plans.

Vendor & Subcontractor Management

• Establish and nurture strong relationships with key vendors and subcontractors.
• Negotiate pricing and terms to maximize value and ensure reliable project delivery.
• Maintain a robust network of industry contacts to support competitive bidding efforts.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Partner with engineering, operations, and field teams to ensure constructability reviews and value engineering are incorporated early in the preconstruction phase.
• Participate in client presentations and negotiations, serving as a trusted technical advisor and representative of Sendero Energy Services.

Qualifications:

• 10+ years of experience in preconstruction, estimating, or project management within renewables or heavy civil construction sectors.
• Proven track record of leading successful preconstruction efforts on large-scale infrastructure or renewable energy projects.
• Strong understanding of civil scopes of work: earthwork, drainage, utilities, etc.
• Proficiency in estimating software; HeavyBid experience strongly preferred.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field (preferred).
