Entry Parks Maintenance Workers  

As a Parks Maintenance Worker, you'll be an integral part of maintaining the beauty and functionality of our local parks and green spaces. A few of your daily tasks may include:

  • Perform general grounds maintenance to ensure parks and City properties remain clean, safe, and well-kept
  • Mow, trim, weed, prune, and maintain turf areas, including aerating, seeding, and fertilizing
  • Collect and dispose of litter to maintain a clean and inviting environment for visitors
  • Assist in the inspection, upkeep, and maintenance of City playgrounds
  • Install and repair irrigation systems as needed
  • Prepare soccer, t-ball, and other sports fields for gameplay
  • Collaborate with team members to prioritize tasks and complete assignments efficiently

The Parks Maintenance team plays a vital role in maintaining the City of Leawood’s parks for everyone to enjoy throughout the year. You will perform a wide range of general park maintenance, from turf management, maintaining athletic fields, irrigation systems, playgrounds, and park trails. You will have a work-life balance where your schedule will be 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Monday through Friday with some scheduled overtime.

Minimum Requirements: Must have a high school diploma or equivalent and possess a valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record per the City’s drivers Use of Vehicles for City Business policy throughout employment with the City.  

Preferred Requirements : Two (2) years of experience in parks or turf maintenance. Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with air brakes and tanker endorsements. 

Starting Rate of Pay: $21.42 -$23.00 / hourly, DOQ*
