Job Description

General Summary : The Environmental Project Manager - Remediation will work on a team of dedicated professionals to perform the day-to-day management of Environmental Division projects from scope, schedule, and budget across the full spectrum of the life-cycle of the project. Working in conjunction with the Division Manager, perform both office and field tasks associated with management of on-going field operations (i.e., soil and groundwater sampling, monitoring well installation, groundwater system hydraulic tests, and fate and transport investigations) to gather data regarding the state of contaminant degradation and migration in the natural environment.

This position requires attention to detail, time management, multi-tasking capability, staff management and a strong work ethic. Responsibilities will include a combination of field and office-related tasks requiring travel to the job site, client’s office, and City and State regulatory agencies. The majority of projects will be within the Denver metro and Front-Range area of Colorado. Candidates must possess excellent communication skills as well as the ability to interact with clients and regulatory personnel without issue.

Managerial Requirements:

Responsibilities for managing a diverse portfolio of environmental projects and clients include:

· Manage a portfolio of environmental, remediation, characterization, and financials;

· Indirectly supervises “one to two” employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.

· Hire and manage subcontractors;

· Prepare and deliver proposals and respond to client’s RFPs, / SOQs, and prepare project-specific visuals and aids for on-line and in person presentations;

· Write and review technical reports and proposals;

· Mentor and train scientific staff and ensure quality work product;

· In conjunction with the Division Manager actively develop your own career growth pathway;

· Actively source for new business opportunities and participate with other Division Managers in identifying opportunities and bringing work into the firm

· Responsible for overall management of assigned projects and negotiating fees, work scope with client(s) and supervision of assigned staff on projects, and to assure projects conform to State and Federal regulations, the firm's commitments to the client, and that the project is completed within the allocated period of time and assigned budget.

Technical Requirements:

· 10+ years of solid technical experience in the areas of geology, hydrology, development of complex geologic and hydrologic cross-sections; creation of potentiometric maps, iso-concentrations maps, an understanding of mass-flux and transport, fate and transport of chlorinated and hydrocarbon plumes; groundwater monitoring program design, implementation, detection and corrective action monitoring, performance monitoring, post-closure monitoring, and environmental remediation of projects in compliance with CERCLA, RCRA, NEPA, VCUP; OPS, and other State, County, and City regulations.

· Familiarity with various remediation technologies, In-situ ChemOx / Redox injections, Aerobic and Anerobic bioremediation, PRBs, Soil-vapor-extraction, Injection and Extraction well design; multi-level well construction; borehole logging, general geotechnical sampling methods and well development and rehabilitation.

· Strong experience with and understanding implementation and limitations of the various drilling and sub-surface characterization technologies (i.e., Hollow-stem-auger, Solid-stem-auger, air and mud-rotary drilling, reverse circulation drilling, STRATEX and ODEX, ARCH, Sonic, DPT, CPT, and general downhole geophysical borehole logging).

· Proficiency with MS Office Suite.

· Excellent technical communication skills and strong writing skills with attention to detail;

Essential Functions (Other duties may be assigned)

· Identifies prospective clients and in conjunction with the Division Manager, arranges to make contact and pursue work.

· Takes a lead role in the proposal negotiation and contract processes. Has authority to quote fees as authorized in Baseline policy directives.

· Maintains a good relationship with client after project is finished to assure securing future work the client may have.

· Receives project assignments from the Division Manager.

· Determines costs and time schedules for proposed work independently or with the aid of the Division Manager or other PMs.

· Assists client as required in selection of contractors and monitors their performance as required.

· Conducts meetings and issues correspondence to ensure project work is processed in accordance with the contract.

· Answers questions and give daily guidance to team members assigned to project. Checks work and deliverable for general appearance and completeness.

· Recognizes problems quickly, addresses and corrects them promptly. Seeks Division Manager’s advice if problems persist.

· Initiates correspondence with client pertaining to his/her projects.

· Recommends and/or coordinates change management and associated costs with client as required.

Job Qualifications/Education:

· MS – Geology / Hydrology /Environmental Sciences Preferred

· Minimum: BA/BS in Geology, Environmental Science/Engineering or another related field;

· Professional Geologist or Engineer license;

· Proven Track record with more 5 to 10 years of direct and relevant project manager experience with more than 10 to 15 years as a senior geologist/engineer.

· Preferred Certifications: CABI, AMS, or CHMM Certification preferred

· Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
