Job Title: Freeze Dry Production Team Member 

Department: Operations

Reports to: Freeze Dry Supervisor

Location: American Fork, Utah

 

Night Shift: C -shift Wednesday-Friday alternating every other Saturday 6:00pm-6:00am

Job Summary: The Freeze Dry Production Team Member is responsible for operating freeze-drying equipment and performing various tasks to ensure the efficient and effective production of high-quality freeze-dried products. This role involves preparing raw materials, monitoring the freeze-drying process, performing quality checks, and packaging finished products. Will be detail-oriented, reliable, and capable of working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:  

  • Receiving, inspecting, milling, packing, and distributing the product.  
  • Adhere to standard work methods and practice safe work habits to ensure production is as efficient and safe as possible.
  • Perform quality checks on raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods to ensure they meet company standards.
  • Identify and report any quality issues or deviations from specifications.
  • Pass cleaning tests and complete all cleaning requirements set forth by the quality assurance department and other third-party inspections.  
  • Great care is taken to clean the rooms, tools, and equipment used during all operations.
  • The ability to read instructions and/or labels efficiently, attach labels and tags to products and packages, communicate effectively and frequent lifting of raw products in preparation for processing.
  • Load and unload trays into and out of the freeze-drying equipment.
  • Operate freeze-drying equipment according to standard operating procedures (SOPs) and safety guidelines.
  • Transport raw and processed materials to designated areas, using a pallet jack.
  • Work in accordance with SQF (Safe Quality Food), PCQI, or HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) rules and regulations.
  • Work collaboratively with other team members to meet production targets and deadlines.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors and colleagues regarding production status and any issues that arise.
  • Must maintain regular and consistent attendance.
  • Other duties as assigned.

SAFETY REQUIREMENTS INCLUDE:  

  • Comply with the Environmental Health Safety & Security (EHS&S) policies and applicable regulatory and company EHS&S rules and requirements.
  • Report to supervision conditions or practices that are either unsafe or that may adversely impact the environment, to ensure prompt resolution of potential hazards.
  • Attend scheduled EHS&S training program.
  • Actively support the organization’s efforts to meet or exceed EHS&S goals and plans.
  • Recommend improved EHS&S practices. 
  • Practices safe work habits and follows general safety procedures such as proper lifting and bending, ergonomics, proper use of equipment and use of personal protection equipment (PPE).
  • Adheres to and ensures lockout procedures are followed any time the equipment is being cleaned or maintained.

PRODUCT SAFETY AND QUALITY  

  • Place high priority on food safety, quality, and sanitation by understanding and executing Thrive Freeze Dry’s food safety, quality, and sanitation policies and procedures. 
  • Hold self and others accountable to Thrive Freeze Dry food safety, quality, & sanitation guidelines and policies by communicating any food safety or quality incident, observation, or opportunity to your leadership team or teammates. 
  • Adherence to and ensures Product Safety and Quality standards are followed. 
  • Adheres to and ensures GMP’s regarding food contact packaging as it pertains to the employee. 
  • Adheres to and ensures Thrives food safety, product defense standards and quality objectives complies with all SQF system requirements.

  • High school diploma or general equivalency degree (GED) or equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • Minimum 3-month experience in a related field, quality inspection or manufacturing environment.
  • Must be able to perform basic math. 
  • Must be able to demonstrate an ability to communicate orally or in written form effectively with co-workers and departments, including the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Must be able to perform physical and mental work requirements of position. 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS - Must be able to perform the following functions with or without accommodations:

  • Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; occasional stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and frequent fine finger dexterity. 
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks.
  • The job is performed under occasional temperature variations and in a food manufacturing production environment. 
  • Unrestricted visual and audio abilities are required for the safety of all employees. 
  • The ability to lift to 50 lbs. and assist in lifting up to 150lbs. is required.
