General Manager – Airport Operations

Location: Full-Time | On-Site | Washington, DC

Salary: Pay: $80,000 – $85,000 annually based on experience

Airport Hours: 24/7 - On-call flexibility is typically required by business needs

Job Summary

Seeking an experienced General Manager to lead daily operations at a major airport facility. This role is responsible for financial performance, client service delivery, team leadership, and full compliance with safety, operational, and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

• Direct and manage all airport operations, ensuring consistent service excellence and compliance
• Lead the implementation and oversight of the Safety Management System (SMS) and related safety plans
• Maintain and monitor performance against operational Service Level Agreements (SLAs)
• Identify, report, and correct operational and safety-related issues with preventive actions
• Oversee training and retraining of staff in airline, airport, and safety procedures
• Act as primary liaison with airport authorities, airline partners, and federal agencies (e.g., FAA, TSA)
• Supervise personnel, evaluate performance, and address employee conduct issues
• Ensure completion and accuracy of FAA and internal operational reports
• Drive safety compliance through briefings, audits, and thorough accident investigations
• Ensure proper use of PPE, safe equipment, and hazard-free environments for all staff
• Represent the company positively to clients, airport officials, and the general public
• Ensure effective communication and maintain required operational records
• Utilize company resources efficiently and uphold company standards
• Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree and/or 5+ years of airport or airline management experience required
• Proven leadership in a supervisory or managerial capacity
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and within a cross-functional team
• Must have reliable transportation and a working phone
• Travel may be required
