Reports To: Vice President of Legal, Compliance & Human Resources

Location: Miramar Beach, Florida

Company Overview

Labarium Diagnostic Systems is a mission-driven social impact company dedicated to innovating the diagnostics industry and improving patient outcomes. We combine cutting-edge science with a commitment to ethical, compliant, and people-centered practices. As part of our growth, we are seeking a highly motivated Human Resources Generalist & Paralegal to join our team. This hybrid role is ideal for a professional with expertise in HR functions and legal support who thrives in a dynamic, collaborative environment.

Position Summary

The Human Resources Generalist & Paralegal will provide comprehensive support across HR and legal functions. This role will be responsible for implementing and managing HR operations—including payroll, benefits, employee relations, and performance development—while also assisting with paralegal duties in support of corporate legal and compliance matters. This dual-role position is critical to ensuring Labarium’s commitment to compliance, integrity, and employee success.

Key Responsibilities

Human Resources

  • Administer day-to-day HR operations, including onboarding, employee records, and compliance with federal and state labor laws.
  • Oversee payroll processing, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with wage and hour regulations.
  • Manage employee benefits programs (health, dental, vision, 401(k), leave policies, wellness initiatives) and serve as the primary point of contact for employee benefits questions.
  • Support performance management processes, including goal setting, reviews, and development planning.
  • Partner with managers to address employee relations issues, mediate conflicts, and foster a positive workplace culture aligned with Labarium’s mission-driven values.
  • Ensure HR policies, employee handbooks, and training programs are kept current and legally compliant.

Payroll & Benefits

  • Coordinate with payroll vendors and benefits administrators to ensure proper enrollment, deductions, and reporting.
  • Conduct audits of payroll and benefits data to maintain compliance and resolve discrepancies.
  • Manage compliance reporting related to payroll, benefits, and HR (ACA, ERISA, COBRA, EEO, etc.).

Performance Development

  • Assist leadership in designing and implementing professional development programs to enhance employee engagement and growth.
  • Track training compliance for required programs (e.g., HIPAA, OSHA, compliance training).
  • Support succession planning and talent development initiatives.

Legal Support (Paralegal Services)

  • Provide paralegal support to the Vice President of Legal, Compliance & Human Resources in corporate governance, contracts, compliance, and regulatory matters.
  • Draft, review, and maintain corporate documents, employment agreements, vendor contracts, and NDAs.
  • Conduct legal and regulatory research to support compliance with applicable laws, including healthcare, employment, and laboratory regulations.
  • Assist with managing corporate filings, licenses, and audits.
  • Support internal investigations, litigation management, and records retention.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Legal Studies, or related field required. Paralegal certification strongly preferred.
  • 3–5 years of combined HR and paralegal experience, ideally in healthcare, diagnostics, or life sciences.
  • Strong knowledge of federal and California labor and employment laws.
  • Experience administering payroll and benefits programs.
  • Excellent drafting, organizational, and research skills.
  • High attention to detail, confidentiality, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a collaborative, mission-driven mindset.

Why Join Us

  • At Labarium Diagnostic Systems, you’ll play a critical role in shaping a culture that values people and integrity while contributing to life-saving innovations in diagnostics. We offer competitive compensation, comprehensive benefits, and the opportunity to be part of a pioneering team improving healthcare for communities.
