📍 Location: Lanham, MD (On-site)

Are you passionate about people, process, and purpose? At Total Civil Construction & Engineering, we’re looking for a Human Resources Generalist who’s ready to support the field and the office with impactful HR strategies, full-cycle recruiting, and exceptional employee experiences.

🛠 What You’ll Do:

As a Human Resources Generalist, you’ll be the go-to person for both day-to-day employee needs and high-impact initiatives. You'll partner with operations and leadership to ensure compliance, foster growth, and keep our team aligned and supported.

Your role will include:

  • Lead recruitment and onboarding for salaried and hourly field staff
  • Coordinate interviews, offer letters, background checks, and I-9/E-Verify
  • Administer employee benefits (Health, Dental, Vision, 401k, FMLA, Unemployment)
  • Maintain and update employee records, job descriptions, and HR systems (Foundation, Heavy Job)
  • Assist with open enrollment, insurance billing, and claims management
  • Support employee relations, performance reviews, and disciplinary actions
  • Ensure compliance with HR regulations and internal procedures
  • Organize social events and wellness initiatives
  • Respond to employment verifications, garnishments, child support requests
  • Assist with immigration processes (H-1B, PERMs, etc.)
  • Provide hands-on support across HR, planning, and payroll departments

We’re seeking a professional who is people-focused, detail-oriented, and proactive.

Education & Certifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business, or social sciences (required)
  • PHR/CP certification (preferred)

Software & Systems:

  • Experience with Foundation and Heavy Job
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, Outlook; PowerPoint preferred)

Experience & Skills:

  • Minimum 2 years in a Human Resources Generalist role
  • Bilingual English/Spanish
  • Strong understanding of benefits administration, labor laws, and recruiting best practices
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities
