As an experienced hydrogeologist at Walden, you are expected to have expert-level knowledge of groundwater flow, subsurface materials, and contaminant migration.

Salaries for hydrogeologists at Walden range from $75,000–$150,000, depending on experience and education.

Candidates with existing clients are preferred.

What will I do at Walden?

  • Coordinate and perform field activities, including investigations and sampling of groundwater and soil and sediment.
  • Provide field oversight of drilling activities using a range of drill rigs and methods.
  • Provide oversight of well installations and abandonments; groundwater monitoring well sampling; large-scale remedial soil excavations; CAMP monitoring; and waste disposal.
  • Coordinate and perform subsurface investigations, including environmental and geotechnical soil boring activities and soil characterization in accordance with applicable standards (e.g., ASTM, Unified Soil Classification System, NYSDEC Part 360 Solid Waste Regulations soil cleanup objectives, and groundwater standards).
  • Coordinate long-term monitoring programs.
  • Conduct UST removals, compliance testing, permitting and violation resolutions.
  • Provide health and safety oversight during field activities.
  • Provide quality control for field work, sample collection, and data evaluation.
  • Inspect the design and function of groundwater wells.
  • Perform hydrology and hydraulic calculations and evaluate compliance with stormwater drainage requirements.
  • Prepare technical reports, including site investigation reports, sampling reports, environmental site assessments, tank spill and closure reports, exposure assessments, soil boring logs, monitoring well construction logs, and work plans.
  • Model surface water and groundwater flow.
  • Implement studies to identify sources of groundwater contamination and develop strategies to correct such issues.
  • Perform aquifer testing and pump testing to determine aquifer characteristics.
  • Perform dewatering calculations and determines construction dewatering system requirements.
  • Perform permitting work for clients.
  • Manage client relationships and participate in business development activities.

What skills do I need?

  • BS or MS in hydrogeology , geology, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Our hydrogeologists are required to have post-b achelor’s experience.
  • Strong computer skills (AutoCAD, MS Office, Google Suite, groundwater modeling software).
  • Experience working on job sites performing investigations and construction oversight.
  • OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER and 10-hour construction outreach safety training.
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to produce thorough reports.
  • Understanding of relevant Federal, State, and local regulations.
  • Must be willing to work outside in all weather conditions and travel to job sites.
  • PG license or working towards a PG license.
