Job Description

JOB DESCRIPTION

Liftify is a fast-growing Indianapolis based company that helps businesses grow their customer base and increase lifetime value of each customer.

Role

This isn't your typical junior role—you'll have real ownership over features, meaningful input on technical decisions, and the opportunity to shape our product from the ground up.

You'll work across our Ruby on Rails stack, building features that directly impact how businesses connect with their customers. From review generation flows to customer messaging tools, your code will help companies build their reputation and grow their business.

What You Will Do

  • Build and ship features across our Rails application—from database to user interface
  • Own projects end-to-end, from initial design to deployment and monitoring
  • Write clean, maintainable code that your future self (and teammates) will thank you for
  • Collaborate closely with the founding team on product decisions and technical direction
  • Help establish engineering practices and culture as we grow the team
  • Debug production issues and help maintain our platform's reliability
  • Learn constantly—from Rails best practices to reputation management domain knowledge

What We Are Looking For

Required:

  • 1-2 years of experience with Ruby on Rails (or similar web framework)
  • Understanding of MVC architecture and RESTful API design
  • Comfortable with HTML and CSS fundamentals
  • Experience with SQL and relational databases (PostgreSQL preferred)
  • Ability to ship working code and iterate based on feedback
  • Strong communication skills and eagerness to learn
  • Comfort with ambiguity and changing priorities (startup life!)

Bonus Points:

  • Experience with Hotwire (Turbo, Stimulus) or similar HTML-over-the-wire approaches
  • Familiarity with server-side rendering and progressive enhancement
  • Background job processing (Sidekiq, etc.)
  • Previous work on B2B SaaS products
  • Experience with integrations (APIs, webhooks, third-party services)
  • Contributions to open source projects

Why Join Liftify?

Ownership & Impact: Your work will directly shape our product and company trajectory. No bureaucracy, no getting lost in a 200-person engineering org.

Learning & Growth: Work alongside experienced engineers who are invested in your development. You'll wear multiple hats and gain exposure to all parts of the stack.

Real Customers, Real Impact: Our platform serves thousands of businesses and helps them connect with millions of customers. You'll see the direct impact of your work.

Flexibility: We trust you to do great work on your schedule. Need to take a morning appointment? Go for it. Want to deep focus in the afternoons? Structure your day how you work best.

Startup Culture: Small team, big ambitions. Your voice matters, your ideas count, and there's room to shape not just the code but the company.

Our Stack

  • Backend: Ruby on Rails, PostgreSQL, Redis
  • Frontend: Hotwire (Turbo + Stimulus) - HTML-over-the-wire approach with minimal JavaScript
  • Infrastructure: Digital Ocean
  • Tools: Git, GitHub, Github Actions, Claude Code, BetterStack, TinyBird

We believe in keeping things simple and productive. Hotwire lets us build fast, responsive interfaces while keeping most logic server-side—no complex JavaScript builds or API layers to maintain.

What To Expect

The interview process is straightforward:

  1. Initial chat to get to know each other
  2. Technical conversation about your experience and approach
  3. Final conversation with the team

We're committed to moving quickly and respecting your time.

How To Apply

Send us an email at applications@liftify.com with:

  • Your resume or LinkedIn
  • A brief note about why you're interested in Liftify
  • Links to code you're proud of (GitHub, personal projects, etc.)

Even if you don't check every box, we'd love to hear from you. We're looking for potential, curiosity, and drive as much as specific experience.
