Job Description

Position Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Laboratory Technician to join our team in a dynamic manufacturing environment. This role will be responsible for performing routine laboratory tests, ensuring product quality, and supporting manufacturing processes. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, or a related field, and be ready to apply their technical expertise in an industrial setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine laboratory testing on raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products to ensure compliance with company and regulatory quality standards.
  • Conduct analysis of chemical and physical properties, including pH, viscosity, and concentration, using various laboratory instruments and techniques.
  • Maintain accurate records of test results, lab equipment calibration, and inventory of laboratory supplies.
  • Troubleshoot any issues related to the testing process, equipment malfunctions, or sample inconsistencies.
  • Work closely with the production and quality control teams to resolve any manufacturing issues, improve processes, and support continuous improvement efforts.
  • Follow all health and safety guidelines, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Assist in preparing reports and documentation for compliance with industry regulations and internal quality audits.
  • Participate in the validation of new testing methods and assist in training other team members on laboratory best practices.
  • Ensure proper maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment, and assist with procurement and inventory management of lab supplies.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry, or a related field required.
  • Experience: 0-2 years of experience in a laboratory setting, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment. Internships, co-ops, or academic research experience is a plus.
  • Technical Skills: Familiarity with laboratory equipment (e.g., pipettes, spectrophotometers, pH meters), and proficiency in data collection, analysis, and reporting software. Experience with laboratory management systems (LIMS) is a plus.
  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of laboratory safety protocols and manufacturing processes.
  • Attention to Detail: Ability to maintain accurate, clear, and organized records, with a focus on data integrity.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to communicate technical information clearly and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues that arise during testing or manufacturing.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for extended periods, handle chemicals, and lift laboratory equipment or samples as necessary (up to 25 lbs).

Educational Background:

Laboratory Techniques:
Hands-on experience with laboratory equipment such as microscopes, pipettes, centrifuges, and spectrophotometers. Proficient in performing common laboratory procedures including sample preparation, solution preparation, and chemical analysis.

Data Analysis & Reporting:
Familiar with using laboratory software to record, analyze, and report data accurately. Experience with basic statistical analysis and creating comprehensive reports for research or quality control purposes.

Safety & Compliance:
Knowledge of laboratory safety standards, including proper handling and disposal of hazardous materials. Trained in the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and following established safety protocols.

Attention to Detail & Organization:
Strong ability to maintain precise and accurate records. Ability to organize samples, reagents, and equipment for efficient workflow, ensuring minimal risk of contamination or errors.

Teamwork & Communication:
Collaborative team player with the ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, supervisors, and researchers. Capable of contributing to group projects and presenting findings in clear, concise formats.

Time Management & Multitasking:
Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced laboratory environment.

Technical Skills:
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Familiar with laboratory management systems (LIMS) and other relevant software.

Problem-Solving:
Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues in laboratory processes, including equipment malfunctions, experimental challenges, and sample discrepancies.

Additional Experience (Optional)

Internships or volunteer work in research labs, clinical labs, or manufacturing environments.
Participation in academic research projects, fieldwork, or laboratory-based coursework.
