Title: Medical Billing Specialist

Location: Santa Monica, CA

Specialty: Non-Clinical – Finance/Accounting

Shift: Day (5 x 8 Hours) 08:00 – 17:00

Positions: 1

Duration: 13 weeks

Core Responsibilities

The Billing Specialist will be responsible for supporting patients’ billing inquiries, including but not limited to:

• Explanation of benefits
• Financial assistance requests
• Patient disputes
• Insurance verification
• Credit card payments
• General billing inquiries

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma / GED
• Minimum 3+ years of experience in healthcare billing
• Minimum 3+ years of customer service experience
• Ability to read, understand, and respond to detailed oral and written instructions

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree
• Understanding of medical terminology

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Handle inbound call volume while meeting call center metrics and productivity guidelines
• Work EPIC work queues as assigned by supervisor/manager
• Participate in special projects as assigned
• Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) to handle complex internal and external inquiries
• Update and maintain accurate account information (registration, insurance, etc.)
• Provide detailed documentation for all accounts handled
• Follow up on unresolved customer-related issues
• Complete patient callbacks and correspondence in a timely manner
• Manage escalated issues professionally
• Perform basic account adjustments as needed
