Location: Horsham, PA (100% onsite - relocation offered)
Salary: $100,000-125,000
Position Overview The Molding Designer/Manager is in charge of the design, fabrication, modification, and repair of molds used in the plastic injection molding process. This role requires advanced knowledge of tool design and fabrication methods.
This is a dynamic, autonomous, proactive, hands-on position. Key Responsibilities - Use SolidWorks software to design molds for plastic prototypes and manufacturing.
- Manage design issues during the build process and modify molds as needed.
- Set up equipment according to mold specifications, materials, and tolerances.
- Utilize measuring and gauging tools to ensure molds meet specifications.
- Perform quality control testing before the mold enters the production cycle.
- Select materials and understand their behavior during injection molding.
- Train, monitor, and coach machine operators.
- Analyze production and machine requirements
- Create and test automated and manual systems
- Integrate disparate systems (e.g., equipment handling and transportation)
- Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
- Upgrade systems and processes with new technology.
- Address production and procurement issues, such as delays, shortages, or quality concerns.
- Ensure all procurement activities meet legal and regulatory requirements.
- Other duties as needed
Qualifications - 10+ years of direct experience designing molds and manufacturing equipment.
- Hand-on experience in a manufacturing setting is required.
- Associate's degree or training certificate in tool and die making preferred
- Above-average SolidWorks proficiency
- Advanced knowledge of manufacturing processes, fabrication methods, and tool design
- Thorough understanding of manufacturing equipment and quality assurance techniques.
- Project management skills
