Job Description

Are you an organized, proactive leader who loves working with animals and people? We are a small but growing pet care business looking for a  Operations Manager to oversee daily operations while actively participating in hands-on work. This role requires someone who is comfortable managing a team, ensuring excellent customer service, and maintaining the facility – all while being ready to roll up their sleeves and contribute directly to pet care services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily operations, ensuring smooth workflow and high-quality pet care services.
  • Handle  customer relations , including reception duties, booking, and scheduling.
  • Manage staff by providing training, scheduling, and performance evaluations.
  • Perform  facility maintenance and ensure cleanliness and safety standards are met.
  • Assist with  pet care services as needed, including pet transportation, dog walking, cat care, as well as feeding, administering medications and managing playtime at our facility.
  • Monitor supply needs, company expenses and contribute to cost-effective operations.
  • Implement and improve company policies and operational strategies.

What We Offer:

  • Base Salary: $50,000 per year (salary + benefit options negotiable)
  • Schedule: 50-hour work weeks (4 long shifts (12 hours) + 1 half day WFH). Each long shift includes a 1-hour PAID break .
  • 5 Days PTO Per Year: Unused PTO paid out at $100 per unused day. Carrying over to the next year TBD.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Previous experience in pet care is required.
  • Previous experience in operations management is preferred.
  • Highly reliable and interested in a long-term career (all of our upper-level staff have been with us for 2-5 years).
  • Comfortable working with pets of all sizes and breeds, including those with behavioral challenges.
  • Clean driving record and confident in  driving and parking a van for pet transportation in the city, including in  rain and rush hour conditions .
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent time management skills, able to work independently and always go above and beyond for the pets in our care.
  • Highly organized, able to multitask, and remain calm under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Comfortable with hands-on work in all weather conditions , including lifting heavy pets, spending long periods on your feet, handling difficult animals, and cleaning (pet waste, dirt, hair, etc.).
  • Exceptional attention to detail, able to follow detailed instructions precisely. (Use the word “fetch” in a clever way when you submit your application!)
