JOB SUMMARY

Perform a variety of diagnostic imaging procedures using fixed and portable equipment. Adjust and control complex diagnostic equipment to optimally image and present the area(s) of interest. Maintain general condition and readiness of the work area. Assist in training of Radiology students.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required Education and Experience

Graduation from a Joint Review Committee or equivalent approved program in Radiology Technology.

Required Credentials

• Current ARRT-R registration.
• Current Washington State Radiology Technologist certification (WA-RT-CERT).
• Current BLS for Healthcare Providers.

Preferred

• Pediatric experience in Radiology.
• Urinary bladder catheterization competency.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Good communication/interpersonal skills.
• Able to communicate verbally in English.
• Able to read and understand English sufficiently to assimilate information and to act accordingly and with appropriate speed within protocol.
• Able to numerate and to place numbers and letter sequences in logical numeric or alphabetic order.
• Able to observe actions of team members from a control booth during an imaging procedure and to read alpha and numeric data in low levels of illumination.
• Able to operate radiographic and processing equipment dials, keys and controls, PCs bar code devices, and printers to image patient conditions, maintain patient records and inventory levels, and perform billing function within protocol.
• Able to perform in critical, stressful situations.
• Able to manage multiple sensory inputs/stimuli simultaneously to make critical choices.
• Able to work with hazardous materials.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS

• Exerting 20-50 lb. of force occasionally and/or 10-25 lb. frequently, or up to 10 lb. constantly for lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling.
• Six or more hours of walking/standing in 8-hour shift. Sitting occasional. Stooping may be required frequently.

JOB FUNCTIONS

Essential Functions

Under general supervision, perform diagnostic imaging procedures:

• Operate and manipulate specialized fixed and portable imaging equipment.
• Tend patients’ needs recognize patient conditions requiring immediate action and initiate life support measures including CPR.
• Assist with the administration of contrast materials.
• Apply and practice principles of radiation protection and aseptic technique.
• Evaluate radiographs for diagnostic/technical quality.
• Monitor correct performance of equipment as a function of normal usage.
• Use RIS provided to code, charge and label films.

Maintain general condition and readiness of work area:

• Follow all Policies & Procedures concerning safety.

Assist in the evaluation of new products:

• Provide feedback

Assist with training of fellows, residents, and students:

• Participate in training programs. - For regional roles, required to rotate to select clinical sites depending on location and staffing needs
