Hey, candy lovers! In partnership with our client Tootsie Roll Industries we are seeking a Senior Brand Manager to help shape the future of their beloved Charm Brands . If you have confectionary experience and a sweet spot for innovation, we want to hear from you!

The Senior Marketing Manager will develop consumer focused brand strategies and execute tactics to increase sales and profits while building the long-term health of their brands. The Senior Marketing Manager role is a general management role that is responsible for all aspects of the brands’ P&L for a portfolio of iconic candy brands.

We are looking for a leader who has deep CPG brand management experience, who can manage multiple projects at once across their brand portfolio. Having strong analytical skills with a demonstrated aptitude to turn data into actionable insights will be key in this position. The Senior Marketing Manager must also have a strong background in building brand strategies including executing foundational brand research, developing brand positioning statements and creating consumer target and consumer personas for their brand portfolio.

This role will include:

Brand Strategy Development

• Work with Director of Brand Marketing to build out all foundational brand elements including; short-term and long-term brand strategies, research needed to answer key business questions, positioning statements to determine brands unique selling points and clear consumer target development.
• Works with Manufacturing, R&D and engineering to build out brand plans to execute against Everyday and Seasonal planning cycles.

New Product Development :

• Works with Manufacturing and R&D to commercialize and develop new pack types, form factors and flavor extensions
• Manages the creative brief and graphic development process with our artwork partners
• Collaborates with the TRI sales teams to identify and implement appropriate sales strategies

Promotion and Advertising:

• Uncovers opportunities and white space for the brand to explore areas of growth for brand with consumer target.
• Develops messaging and communication tactics directly with internal Social Media team and other external partners as needed
• Proposes and executes trade promotions with our sales team and broker partners
• Manages brand advertising across traditional and digital platforms

P&L Responsibility:

• Develops recommendations on pricing and margin enhancement
• Leads the budget forecasting process for their brands

Category Insights:

• Uses syndicated and panel data to understand consumer needs and to identify brand opportunities and risks
• Leverage sales trends and data to provide Sales team with compelling selling stories for new / seasonal items within brand portfolio

Leadership Responsibilities:

• Develops and coaches Associate Brand Manager dedicated to the brand portfolio.
• Supports key customer accounts teams and leads seasonal programs for TRI.

Desired Skills and Abilities

• Knowledge of cost accounting, profitability statements, manufacturing/warehousing processes, and retail margin analysis
• Familiarity working with candy and snack brokers with a strong understanding of the retail trade selling process
• Experience commercializing new items by working with Operations, Finance, R&D and Purchasing
• Professional maturity; fosters open, honest and direct communication
• Provides clear, succinct and relevant written and verbal communication
• Desire to work “hands-on” to get the job done
• Maintains positive attitude and approach to work

Requirements

1. Bachelor’s Degree required. MBA desirable.
2. Minimum 10+ years of experience in brand marketing with a consumer product manufacturer, Ideally Confectionary, CPG food/snack or similar.
3. Deep experience using Nielsen or Circana syndicated data
4. Highly proficient in Excel, Powerpoint
