Wargaming is looking for an experienced and passionate UX Researcher in the Center for Player Insights. This is a hybrid position based in Austin, Texas. Working from the office one day a week, and also to be present in the office when there is research taking place.
You will work directly with games teams in speaking up for the player and having the opportunity to influence the development of our products. You will use a variety of methods best suited for the title, research request and product life phase to conduct both in-lab and remote testing.
In this role, you will work on our live service games, as well as in-development titles. You will have the opportunity to evangelize the UX and User Research process within Wargaming. You will be part of the playtesting team and work on maintaining and enhancing user testing within the company.
You should have a passion for video games and an understanding of gaming experience. You are motivated to work in close collaboration with other team members and game developers and are a self-starter. Experience in project management and planning research, and attention to detail, are essential skills for this role.
The Research Supervisor of Research Design
Plan, design, and execute research studies using various UX research methods including playtesting, usability testing, expert review, longitudinal testing, concept testing, questionnaires, focus groups, and one-to-one interviews. This is for remote and in-person research.
Lead communication with stakeholders to turn requests into clear business goals, and research objectives.
Own the research process of individual projects across their lifespan (e.g. research scope and planning, project management, fieldwork, analysis, reporting and presentation).
Deliver impactful and actionable research output through effective communication with stakeholders.
Evangelize the role and benefits of user experience across the company.
Contribute to the Center for Player Insights research strategy.
Support members of the Center for Player Insights in conducting research.
Play video games, including Wargaming titles, and be knowledgeable on the industry news and developments.
2+ years of industry experience with UX Research or user research, ideally within video games.
Degree in Human Computer Interaction, Psychology, Cognitive Science, Sociology, or related field.
In-depth knowledge of user experience and user research methodology and theory.
End-to-end experience with all aspects of the user research life cycle (project management, study design, recruiting, moderation, analysis, reporting, communicating, budgeting research).
Experience in managing and conducting in-house playtests in remote and lab-based conditions.
Experience in usability testing, longitudinal testing, concept testing and survey design.
Experience in focus groups, one-to-one interviews, creative methods.
Experience with survey design tools (e.g. Survey Monkey, Alchemer, Qualtrics).
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Curiosity and creativity; enjoying complex issues and problem-solving.
Strong interpersonal skills, ability to quickly build rapport, and establish credibility.
Experience in building relationships and managing internal stakeholders.
Enthusiasm about video games.
Experience in remote testing using external platforms (e.g. Playtest Cloud, Antidote, UserZoom).
Experience working in a multi-cultural environment.
Understanding of the game development process.
Experience playing Wargaming titles.
Fluency in Russian
