Job Description

The Vessel Superintendent is responsible for overseeing daily vessel operations, ensuring a safe work environment for internal and union personnel.

Responsibilities

• Provide guidance and direction to the union workforce, directly overseeing and managing all vessel operations
• Ensure compliance with internal SOPs, safety regulations, and security procedures
• Coordinate with Port leadership on stowage and the discharge/load-back plans to ensure operational excellence
• Manage and oversee the manpower scheduling, to ensure proper coverage across the vessel and operational targets can be met/exceeded
• Coordinates with the Maintenance team to execute PMs on both the equipment and facility, minimizing downtime and maintaining production levels
• Continuously train and develop the staff on how to properly execute procedures and ensure performance goals are met/exceeded
• Preform visual inspections throughout the vessel to ensure the functionality of loading/unloading equipment

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, or a related field
• 1-2 years of prior experience handling and supervising union associates with multiple cargo types (Breakbulk, Ro-Ro, etc)
• 1+ years of warehouse or stevedoring experience
