About the role: SAGE Redwood City is growing its Specialty Dentistry team and seeking a dedicated and
skilled Registered Veterinary Technician or an
experienced Veterinary Assistant to join us. In this role, you will collaborate closely with our residency-trained dentist, assisting with dental and oral surgeries, diagnostic imaging, and comprehensive oral health assessments and treatments. Key Responsibilities
- Dental Procedures: Assist veterinarians with dental cleanings, extractions, oral surgeries, and other advanced dental treatments to ensure efficient and effective patient care.
- Anesthesia & Patient Monitoring: Set up and administer anesthesia, monitor patient vitals throughout dental procedures, and ensure patient safety and comfort during recovery.
- Radiology: Capture and process high-quality digital dental radiographs, assisting with diagnostics for various dental conditions under veterinary supervision.
- Instrument Care & Sterilization: Prepare, sterilize, and maintain dental equipment and instruments, ensuring compliance with infection control protocols and hospital standards.
- Client Education & Communication: Educate pet owners about dental health, preventive care, and post-procedure home care to support long-term oral health outcomes.
- Recordkeeping & Documentation: Accurately document dental treatments, radiographic findings, and other clinical notes in patient medical records.
- Supportive Patient Handling: Handle pets of all sizes with care and compassion, reducing stress and ensuring a safe, comfortable environment during procedures.
Qualifications
- For RVT Applicants: Active RVT license in California with a background in anesthesia and a minimum of 1 year of experience in specialty settings preferred.
- For VA Applicants: Minimum of 2 years of experience in veterinary settings, ideally with prior exposure to dentistry or specialty care.
- Proficient in anesthesia protocols, dental radiography, and surgical support.
- Strong attention to detail, with excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with the team, clients, and doctors, with a passion for educating pet owners on dental health.
Compensation for this role is between $26 - $40 hourly depending on experience and location.
