GENERAL COUNSEL POSITION OVERVIEW:

The General Counsel at Amped Fitness will serve as a trusted advisor to the company, overseeing all legal matters. This role will provide legal guidance to C-suite executives, helping to develop and implement policies and practices that mitigate risks and control costs. The General Counsel will also be responsible for advising on corporate law , industry compliance, litigation , commercial real-estate and LOIs , and cross-functional collaboration with teams to align legal and business goals. You will lead by example, taking ownership of challenges and maintaining high standards of discipline, professionalism, and excellence. Ideal candidates will be highly motivated, with a deep understanding of legal issues impacting the fitness industry and the ability to provide high-quality legal advice.

This role reports to our headquarters in Pompano, FL.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES (not limited to):

  • Provide legal counsel and guidance to the business on corporate governance, legal compliance, and risk management across various legal issues.
  • Represent the company in legal proceedings, including court trials and administrative hearings, as necessary.
  • Draft, review, negotiate, and manage commercial leases and contracts.
  • Advise on legal risks related to company operations, projects, and contracts, and develop strategies to mitigate these risks.
  • Ensure compliance with data privacy regulations, consumer protection laws, and industry standards.
  • Supervise external legal advisors and collaborate with them to ensure efficient and effective use of legal resources.
  • Draft, review, and update company policies and procedures to ensure ongoing compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Support the development and maintenance of a positive and motivating company culture while ensuring a collaborative and compliant work environment.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned, including community outreach, corporate events, and public relations efforts.

QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Education : Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school and admission to the bar in the relevant jurisdiction – Florida State bar admission required and/or more states
  • Experience : 3-8 years of relevant legal experience, with a focus on corporate law, contract law, intellectual property, and/or regulatory compliance.
  • Ambition to increase legal and business knowledge and skills in areas relevant to the business
  • Experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating complex contracts and agreements.
  • Skills : Excellent project management skills, communication skills along with the ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization – including executives, and strong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional business judgment. 
  • Strong negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent analytical, research, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated strategic thinking, creative problem-solving, and organizational leadership skills

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Prior experience working in-house for a corporation or within the fitness industry.
  • Experience managing legal risk and providing counsel on regulatory compliance matters.
  • Knowledge of industry-specific regulations, such as trade compliance or corporate governance.

COMPENSATION:

  • Industry-Pay: Minimum salary +$100k-120k annually, increases based on relevant experience and performance.
